Sales boom paves the way for new staff to extend the Willamette Valley oil producers reach — technically and globally.
Salem, OR ─ December 17, 2018 ─ Natural Plant Products, Inc. (NPP) a producer of natural botanical oils/extracts from Oregon-based co-op member farms, closed a record global sales year last June, and has added staff to keep up with strong sales numbers.
Crop acreage commitments have almost doubled year-over-year for NPP’s flagship Meadowfoam Seed Oil, grown exclusively in Oregon’s Willamette Valley by the co-op’s close to 50 member farms. NPP supplies about 90% of the global market for the ingredient used in hair, skin, face and lip personal care products.
Joining NPP as VP, Global Sales and Marketing is seasoned sales executive Jim Daniels. Daniels most recently served as CEO of CortControl, LCC, a specialty supplement immune-enhancement support formulator. Jim holds a BA in Business from San Jose State University. Jim’s extensive history building global direct sales and distribution networks coupled with his executive background provide a good fit for NPP’s thriving business.
“NPP has definitely hit critical mass in terms of sales growth and we need additional staff to support ongoing growth,” says NPP CEO, Mike Martinez. “Jim will provide needed cover on sales,
distribution management, and business process fronts, and allow me to devote additional time and resources on operational needs. We’re excited to have someone of Jim’s caliber onboard.”
To keep up with the industry’s growing technical market demands, NPP has also added to their technical staff.
Madyson Harlan joins Technical Marketing Manager Joan Kappes in NPP’s Applications Lab as a Chemist after having completed an internship with NPP this last year. Harlan recently graduated with honors with a BA in Chemistry from Willamette University where she did independent inorganic chemistry research and conducted studies on how ruthenium-based anticancer drugs interact with DNA in the body.
“My vocational goal has always been to work in cosmetic product formulation so I’m very excited to be on the NPP team, have the opportunity to work in the lab, and learn more about the industry,” says Harlan.
“As a Willamette Chemistry grad myself we have maintained close ties with the department. It’s great to add such an exemplary local grad to our staff,” says Martinez. “Being able to extend our technical value through guide formulary services and regulatory support is an important commitment we’re making as a company. We’re thrilled Mady has joined the NPP family to help us with both.”
